This is pride Rue McClanahan (Blanche from Golden Girls). Reblog for 100 years of gay luck
In 1977, Harvey Milk asked Gilbert Baker to come up with a symbol of pride for the gay community. The first Rainbow Flag was unfurled on this day in 1978, and the colorful emblem remains a symbol of pride and hope. Today we celebrate 40 years of this design classic. The flag will be on view in our galleries from June 26 - July 8. Join us on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for a Rainbow Flag Celebration. Check out our Facebook event for more information. Free with pay what you wish admission.
